Welcome to Helen Morcom Photography and thanks for stopping by!
Living in Cornwall with my husband Darren and our gorgeous daughters, I often think that I am a very fortunate person to be living in these stunning surroundings and they inspire me a lot in my day to day work.
I have done many things in life from working behind a bar at an early age, studying criminal law in an evening college class to becoming a car saleswoman for a few years! All through this time I always felt like something was missing. A scratch that needed itching and I couldn't quite find it! You know what I mean? My vices were always sketching/drawing and taking photos with my compact camera. About 4 years ago, for my birthday, my husband bought me my first DSLR and Wow! That was it, I was hooked. That hole was filled in my life. I studied hard and experimented constantly, starting out with editorial & studio work moving onto family portraits, of which I still do in my small home studio. Then one day I got introduced to wedding photography...
The first wedding that I did was roughly 2 years ago and I was there as the trainee to the main photographer and that's where I learnt more & more and the wedding bug got me. Since then I have had the pleasure of shooting many more weddings and I absolutely enjoy every minute of them. Literally, I am there from start to finish! I feel that I can bring a modern journalistic/candid approach to their big day incorporating a classy, classic feel. Every detail being captured down to the smallest pair of earrings. Traditional group photos also respectfully carried out. My main aim is to capture the true essence & emotion of the day as well as the personal experience that the Bride & Groom are experiencing during their special moments. No moment will go unnoticed making their occasion timeless!
The award for the most adorable subject to photograph has to go to all of the newborn babies that I have had the pleasure to meet. The best job in the world by far! I really wanted to approach newborn photography from a different angle to what is currently available in my area. For this reason I decided to adopt baby posing into my routine. Baby posing is a harmless way of arranging the position of the newborn, while it is fast asleep. The positions that you can put them in are so emotion inducing that I actually believe that I am addicted to producing such images for all of the Mums & Dads that I meet. These images then become such original pieces for the family to cherish on & on and look back on fondly.
